│ FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOLS │
│ │
│ It is very important when uploading or downloading to ensure both ends │
│ are using the same protocol. Many terminal (communications) programs │
│ use different labels, which adds to the confusion. Please compare the │
│ choices available in your terminal program with those here on BIZynet so │
│ your downloading will be successful. │
│ │
│ <X>modem This is the original XModem. Use this protocol if you │
│ do not have any of the others. It will automatically │
│ determine if you are using CRC or not. │
│ │
│ <1>Xmodem-1K This is the same as XModem, except it uses 1024 byte │
│ blocks. This is sometimes miss-labeled as YModem-1K. │
│ │
│ <Y>modem(batch) This is Chuck Forsberg's YModem protocol. It's much │
│ faster than XModem and provides CRC error correction │
│ scheme. YModem and ZModem transfer all of the file │
│ header, date, and size information intact. │
│ │
│ <Y>modem-G This protocol is a variation on YModem Batch. It gets │
│ very high transfer rates by sending blocks one after │
│ another without waiting for acknowledgement. To use │
│ this, you MUST have an error-free link or an error- │
│ correcting modem with built in MNP. If any errors are ├
│ detected by the receiver, transfers are aborted. │
│ │
│ <Z>modem This advanced protocol, also by Chuck Forsberg, is very │
│ fast, extremely reliable, and offers many features. It │
│ can transfer a group of files in a batch, while tracking │
│ the file sizes and dates. ZModem detects and recovers │
│ from errors quickly, and can resume an interrupted file │
│ transfer at a later time. This feature, called ZModem │
│ Recovery, is well suited for noisy phone lines as well │
│ as satellite links and packet switched networks. │
